Our mission is simple: we provide free grounds maintenance to reduce financial burdens and restore a sense of pride and dignity through clean, well-maintained spaces. While yard work is at the heart of what we do, we believe in lending a hand wherever we can. If it’s something we’re able to do, and it helps someone in need, we want to make it happen.
If you can’t take care of your yard—whether because of financial hardship, health limitations, or the demands of providing for your family—we can step in. Our services are meant for people who truly need the help.

The Newgrounds Initiative was founded in May 2025 as a senior capstone project for the Civic Leadership Program at South Anchorage High School. What began as a small idea quickly grew into a community-driven effort focused on helping neighbors when they need it most.
The initiative started after our founder learned that several local residents were receiving HOA fines due to lawn maintenance issues. Recognizing the unnecessary stress and financial burden this created, we worked with teachers and peers to develop a practical solution: neighbors helping neighbors through direct action.
Since then, The Newgrounds Initiative has expanded beyond lawn care into a broader community support role. Our projects have included yard cleanups, junk removal, snow shoveling, and general labor—always with the same goal: reducing stress and improving quality of life for those around us.
As we continue into 2026, we remain committed to practical service, local impact, and strengthening the sense of community that makes neighborhoods thrive.
